Ideal very affordable Very first RC car

When purchasing your to start with rc car there is heaps to opt for from and we would advise getting a car that is very well supported and there are lots of spares accessible. FTX are stocked by most model outlets and for that reason it should be significantly a lot easier to get hold of the spare pieces you want and have to have. they also have tons of hop up parts readily available.

  1. Hey guys. I believe that if you run LapMonitor via a laptop you can run a race meeting with heats and finals (vs just a basic lap timing session) . Have you ever seen this done? Would love a video on that.

Nice work guys, great for beginners and people who want to start up in the rc world, double 👍

  3. The roketan is absolutely what I am looking for! Hard to find with reasonable shipping cost to the US. Great video guys!👍🏻👊🏼

I know you guys love SC's you should get the new Associated PRO4 SC10 general tyres edition. It's the same platform as the Rival MT10 with a longer chassis, licenced body, wheels and tyres all for the same money. Be good to see how it handles compared to the Zorro brushless.

The Rokatan very under rated, it has the best electronics out of all the FTX cars except the DR8. I hope they do it on another body as unfortunately it's not hugely popular at present. It would be fantastic on a stadium or monster truck.

    Great action sequence at beginning

Great breakdown on affordable first RC cars. I think in the short space or time I’ve been back in the hobby, this section of the RC market place has grown significantly (perhaps thanks to Chinese equivalent models?)

For me, personally, the most affordable would also need to include how easy it is to fix myself and how easy it is to get parts for. I know this will make many laugh, but it was the 2wd Traxxas Slash that got me back into RC. At the time (now approx 4/5yrs ago) it was the model I saw most of on YT after seeing a vid pop up whilst watching Baja/1:1 scale SCT races. Bit of research on line and it’s parts catalogue/hop ups etc was huge. Bit more research and I bought one new for under £200 (I think it was from Modelsport who were having a sale). Within a year I moved up to brushless, GoolRC combo which still kept the rig under £200. Only thing pushing it over was the cost of a 2s and 3s battery.

It is the easiest rig I’ve worked on. Everything is nicely laid out – steering servo, esc, tranny etc and when I want top mod it, the parts list is endless.

That said recently one cousin’s son (who looks like he’s growing into a ‘petrolhead’ lol ) recently asked if the FTX was a good starting rig for his son, so without skipping a beat I said yes. Traxxas doesn’t seem to do the 2wd as far as I can see – it’s pushing £300/400 4wd SCTs which I didn’t want to suggest as, if the kid gets bored , my cousin will be left with an expensive bit of kit just sitting there. Funnily enough since getting it, it appears the kid likes the more slow side of RC so after seeing my Kanyon, he now has an FTX Kanyon. Again a great model for getting into RC without getting too technical.

At the end of the day for me the important things are:
    1) how much you want to spend
    2) do you want to race at club level or just have fun in the park etc
    3) if it breaks will you be prepared to fix it yourself (all part of the hobby)
    4) don’t get too hung up about things like handling, because if you’re new to RC you won’t have anything to bench mark it to, and as with point 3, if you want to make it handle better there are easy ways to do this for any RC (suspension, tyres etc etc).
    5) get the one that puts a smile on your face every time you see a vid /forum post, pic of it because when you get it, regardless of any niggles, you’ll be grinning like a proverbial Cheshire Cat every time you use it – and that’s what the hobby is all about. Your fave RC is the one that puts the biggest smile on your face 🙂

As always another brilliant break down , I’m certain it will help many thinking of getting into RC especially if they want their kids to enjoy it as they did at the same age.
    👍😎

  8. Brilliant video love the ftx torro brushless my car plus the team corally skeeter 4s

  9. For racing it’s got to be the mardave assassin.
For bashing, you can’t go wrong with ftx

  10. Kar'scar says:

Is the ftx zorro brushed durable , what is the first upgrade I need to do except brushless conversion

  11. Mark-1 Rc says:

I think the FTX Vantage brushless is a better buy handle way better than a SCT , and if I’m not mistaken there are quite a bit of upgrades ,, 2 speed as wll
