How to strengthen / strengthen / shoe goo an RC car overall body

Ok, its not bulletproof, but this is how I support lengthen the lifestyle of my rc car/truck/buggy bodies.

This functions on painted bodies too, on the other hand some paints may possibly not react perfectly to the shoe goo, so be positive to test a smaller place first, Translucent colours especially.

I notice it is tricky to see white tape and glue on a white system. Hopefully it is really however beneficial.

There are numerous ways to do it, this is my way. On the SC trucks, when I have put alot of tape and many tubes of shoe goo on, it lasts extended, but the truck feels prime significant. I retain it slim and light to strengthen the daily life, but retain it light.

@DpStewy20 Thanks, no problem! It sure helps keep your body in good shape longer.

@shortcoursetim I do this to my painted bodies also. It has not messed the paint up

@TheMrmares Thanks. You can also use this method to repair some light damage or cracks

interesting method! I've always put the goo down first, in small sections. then used a bit of rounded plastic to press the fiber tape on to the goo "bed" (similar to how you lay down fiber glass or carbon fiber). This looks quicker though! How long do the bodies last? I get about 1 year (plus touch-up gooing, with a winter break) of hard bashing before they just fall apart. If this is close… I'm switching.

I would say give this method a try. My bodies have been lasting a long time. I do some repairs sometimes by adding more in the realy trouble spots, but its definitely alot stronger

Thanks for the tips! I did it with your method for an RC10GT body and was done in a fraction of the time! It seems every bit as strong as my old method. Thanks!

I'm new to this hobby and ruined my first body on my Traxxas Slash 4×4 on the second day. My next body I am definitely do this!

  8. FOSKOS says:

Yes, you are correct. Not sure why I was calling it fiberglass tape. My brand has fiberglass strands, but, it IS drywall tape. Thanks for correction

No problem, It helps a ton!!

lol, i tried this using the thicker of the two thicknesses of drywall tape that home depot carries and it wouldn't stick worth a sh*t and going around a bend, forget about it. So i just shoe-goo'd the entire body without the drywall tape and I think it holds up just as good. Maybe i'll get some of the thinner tape next time and hopefully that will stick…

Just use rubber in a can.it's flexible and strong

  13. Nice video dude, I learned to do the exact same thing lol. I just used a whole big tube of shoe goo for my new HPI Blitz body. Sure it will make it a bit heavier, but honestly its not really going to slow down the truck.

  14. Lucidreamo says:

use a wall paint brush rather than your finger.

  15. I use erector set pecies

  16. I use duct tape… works great.

  17. ok so how do you remove this…. I brought a used rc and it came with the same exact reinforced method.

  18. Benny says:

I used selleys shoe glue not shoe goo. It totally fucked my paint job I spent hours doing on my savage flux. I'll never do this shit again.

  20. Nice job bro subscribe to my channel and I will do the same thanks 😎👊

  21. Better to use a spray on truck bed liner then shoe goo over that instead of the tape.

  22. aketch says:

nice but there is another method that I use which is actually a better way to reinforce and also protect the body from scratches

  24. Tim Hill says:

what he is using here is drywall tape. still made of fiberglass but is different from what you get if you search "fiberglass tape" on amazon

yo no cap the quality on this vid is insanee

  26. GeddyRC says:

Thanks for this! I'm about to buy my first custom RC body and I want it to actually last – so I threw the tape and shoe goo on the order as well and will be doing this soon. Thanks for the video.

I use super glue to tack the fiberglass tape. next I take some cheap dishwashing gloves. next I use expanding foam insulation and mold push foam onto tape. I keep pushing the foam down until it's tacky molding The foam. I use one can of foam for a Traxxas slash body.
spray foam is carvable and the end result is light and incredibly strong

  28. Mario Puzo says:

Forget shoe goo. That's a joke. Liquid tape is where it's at

  29. Thanks I’m going to give it a shot.
