  2. Another great tip ๐Ÿ‘Š!!! Gotta love Harbor Freight, too๐Ÿ‘Œ. Was literally just soldering on a new Arrma motor connector an hour ago. Had to laugh when you mentioned sloppy mess ๐Ÿ˜‚ cuz it sounded like my first attempt…Lol๐Ÿ˜จ. Truly appreciate these Tech vids and the awesome service you provide ๐Ÿ‘Š. Keep up the great work!!! ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š

Hi. Great video. I love your products and I buy a lot of stuff from you. Question: I struggle to solder battery connectors with my 30W soldering iron. You made it look super easy. Do I need a higher wattage iron?

  7. Another good video! I use a block of scrap wood that I have lying around, and I drill several holes with various sizes in it, and that's my soldering jig. The wood gets burned a bit sometimes, but the main reason for using wood is that it won't suck the heat out of the connector or wire when soldering. Just my 2 cents….

Why can't you just clip and strip the wire just a bit shorter?

Great tip! For what itโ€™s worth, a Dremel with a 1/2โ€ or 9/16โ€ grinding wheel works great too ๐Ÿ™‚ How do I know? I tried it after watching this video because while I have a Dremel, I donโ€™t have a bench grinder, and the Dremel setup with 9/16โ€ grinding wheel did the trick, and I felt like I had excellent control of shaping the wire too. I was putting an XT90 on a 6S pack with 10AWG leads. Thanks!

  10. Never cut both wires at once.

  11. NICK OLA says:

Do not do that. Lead dust is not good!!! Clip off edges with micro side cutters

  12. txkflier says:

So, you made some lead dust and probably ground off some of the wire itself. Why not just re-tin the wire and thwack it on the table to remove all the solder? Then you can just re-form the strands so that they'll fit into the connector and re-tin the wire..

  13. GS-T 518 says:

Do you really think itโ€™s safe having both wires bare at the same time ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  14. Wow that's nice you swap it for free. My local shop charges ยฃ3.5 per connection

  15. Fonic Gaming says:

Wow, thatโ€™s awesome that youโ€™ll swap connectors on lipos for customers. I kno where Iโ€™ll be buying some 3s lipos from for my Erevo 2.0!!

  16. Instead of having the exposed pos and neg leads flopping around which can possibly touch, I use a rubber band around the battery which can hold the wire that you're not working on at the moment safely out of the way.

I use my cutting pliers to trim the over tinned end a little bit, if it's to fat to fit.

    Is that 8 gauge wire

  20. Canโ€™t see how you grind it!

    Hi,
I appreciate your advice. I just soldered battery wires to my hobbywing pro. The soldered posts are are only about 2mm apart and uninsulated. Should I be concerned or try to cover them with shrink wrap or electrical tape? Itโ€™s awfully tight. Iโ€™d send a pic but comments wonโ€™t allow pics.

An other tech tip, use a gas soldering pen when soldering that kind of plugs, 10 times faster and better soldering.
